3.Witness the Al- Hayl Castle
One of the most preserved forts in the United Arab Emirates, Al- Hayl Castle was built somewhere around 1830. Amidst the colossal Hajjar Mountains, Al- hayl castle held great importance during the early era when the royal ruling family of Fujairah used for its defense. 4.Visit the Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Constructed in an area that is almost equivalent to the area of 3 football pitches, Sheikh Zayed Mosque is undoubtedly one of the best places to visit in Fujairah. It boasts of six 100 meter high minarets and can accommodate over 32000 people for worship. Its basement hall for women can accommodate up to 3000 females. It is the biggest mosque in UAE after the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the city of Abu Dhabi.
5.Shop at the Masafi Market
If you are looking for a good place to buy carpets, artifacts and pottery, Masafi market is the place to be in Fujairah. The carpets are the bestsellers of this place and mostly are sourced from Pakistan. In the city surrounded by mountains, the market is a good stopover for the travelers. Products are good and the bargains can be really great. The stalls are neat and well organized and are open from 8 am to 10 pm everyday of the week. The Friday Masafi market is a major attraction of Fujairah. A great place to buy earthenware, souvenirs and antiques, masafi market is also popularly known as Souk- Al- Juma.
A must visit place for one and all; the Fujairah museum has distinctively preserved the Bronze Age artifacts and Iron Ageweaponry of the bygone era. Beautifully displayed pottery collection, carved vessels of soapstone, and the pre Islamic coins of silver metal are carefully preserved and are on display for the visitors. Most of these treasured artifacts were found during the archeological digs at Bithnah and Qidfa. One of the most prized artifacts found during the dig is a big bowl made out of an ostrich egg dating back to nothing less than 2200 years. It is a place to revisit the traditional life of Emiratis.
